Snowboarding & Sledding:

Riverside Snow Park- Lots of hills for snowboarding, sledding and tubing. They also have snowboard rails donated by Sunday River! Note - Through The Woods at Riverside Restaurant is open 7 days a week at Riverside North.

Payson Terrain Park - Sledding, tubing, snow boarding. Come visit the new Payson Terrain Park for snowboarding and skiing! It includes multiple fun boxes and a rail.

Eastern Prom Hill - Fantastic sledding, tubing, telemark skiing, cross-country skiing.

Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing:

Capisic Pond Park - Open fields for skiing or snowshoeing.

Evergreen Cemetery Woods - (Main entrance at 672 Stevens Avenue) 100 acres of forest with trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and walking.

Mayor Baxter Woods – (Off Hartley Street, between Stevens & Forest Avenues) Woods with trails for cross country skiing, snowshoeing and walking, dogs allowed.

Oatnuts Park to Presumpscot River Preserve – (Park on Allen Ave. Extension or Summer Street). One of the best spots in Greater Portland for snowshoeing & cross-country skiing. Miles of trails along the Presumpscot River, leading to the Presumpscot Falls.

Ocean Avenue / Quarry Run - Old landfill cap area, hills and trails for cross-country skiing & snowshoeing.

Payson Terrain Park - Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing near the Back Cove.

Riverside Snow Park -Riverside Golf Course staff, in cooperation with Portland Nordic Ski Club, maintains 8 kilometers of groomed x-country ski trails for classic and skate skiing at Riverside Golf Course along the Presumpscot River. Trail access is via Riverside North and South Courses, fee donation for trail use supports trail grooming. Don’t forget about Through The Woods at Riverside, open 7 days a week at Riverside North.

Riverton Trolley Park - (Riverside Street at Forest near Westbrook line) Good spot for cross-country skiing & snowshoeing; connects to Riverside Golf Course.

Intown areas - Deering Oaks Park, Eastern Prom, Western Cemetery – All good areas for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Outdoor Ice Skating Ponds:

Deering High on Ludlow Street - Used by schools and the public.

Deering Oaks Park - The largest of the outdoor skating areas in Portland.

Nason’s Corner/Breakwater School Pond - A little local favorite.

Payson Terrain Park - Right off the Back Cove.

Riverside Snow Park - Enjoy this lighted outdoor skating rink!

Visit Portland’s only indoor ice arena located on Park Avenue. For available open ice skating times please log onto our website at www.portlandicearena.com or call the arena at 774-8553 before visiting.
