American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

Welcome to the City of Portland’s website devoted to The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). This website is designed to keep the residents of Portland informed on the latest developments and projects funded by the American Recovery Act within the city.

ARRA is federal legislation designed to jumpstart the economy, create or save jobs, and address challenges the nation must face for the 21st century. With much at stake, ARRA calls for unprecedented levels of transparency and accountability so that you will be able to know how, when, and where your tax dollars are being spent.

The overall goals of the ARRA are to stimulate the economy in the short term and invest in essential public services to ensure the long-term economic health of our nation. To achieve this goal, cities like Portland will receive and apply for funds to help build the city’s infrastructure, achieve energy independence and support neighborhood development.
