Hadlock Field is not just the home of the Portland Seadogs but also perenial High School baseball powerhouses the Portland High School Bulldogs and the Deering High Rams. Named after long time Portland High baseball coach Edson Hadlock Jr., Hadlock field is a 7,368 seat classic minor league baseball stadium that was renovated in 1993 and boasts great site lines and an intimate atmosphere that brings the fans right into the action. The stadium has been compared to Camden Yards in Baltimore for its brick facade and oldstyle feel.
Since becoming the Boston Red Sox Double –A farm club in 2003 Hadlock has been transformed into a “Mini” Fenway. The left field wall nows strikes a remarkable resemblance to the famed “Green Monster” left field wall at Boston’s Fenway park, complete with Citgo sign and Coca-Cola bottles.
In 2004, the facility hosted the largest crowd ever to watch a high school baseball game in New England for the sold out Maine Principals Association Class A Championship Game. In addition the facility has hosted events such as the NCAA Division III Regional Baseball Tournament, Maine American Legion Tournament, Maine Senior Little League Tournament, WPOR Concert in the Park, and a variety of camps and special events.
