The Planning Board is recommending a series of zoning amendments intended to support the Bayside area as an urban dense mixed use neighborhood. Back in 1999, the Bayside Plan (A New Vision For Bayside) was enacted to help guide the revitilization of Bayside. While the City has a game plan to revitilize Bayside, new zoning was needed to guide new development to meet the objectives of the plan. The amendments include the creation of a new zone (B-7 Mixed Development District Zone) for the Bayside area replacing the existing B-5 zone between Franklin Street and Forest Avenue. A new height system has been proposed for Bayside with 4 separate height zones with the highest zone allowing buildings upto 125 feet. The City Council will hold a public hearing on the amendments on Wednesday, May 18th at 7:30.
