The Portland Jetport is planning a terminal expansion due to a higher
volume of passengers.
The Jetport experienced an annual increase of nearly 12% in passenger volume
for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 2008. This growth has exacerbated terminal capacity
issues. The Jetport Expansion plan calls for the construction of a 125,000
square foot, five gate expansion to the existing terminal, The total
construction cost is estimated to be $60 million and will be funded primarily
through an FAA authorized Passenger Facility Charge.
The Jetport terminal expansion design is now underway. The design team has completed much of the preliminary design analysis and requires the input of a public building committee before the next phases of design can be completed. This committee will build upon the work of the Jetport Master Plan Committee and its Terminal Planning Subcommittee. It will provide the necessary input to Jetport administration and the terminal building design team to insure the Jetport terminal expansion is consistent with the public’s expectations for this facility.
