Smoking Cessation

Smoking Cessation Benefit

The City’s health plan provides smoking cessation benefits for the treatment of tobacco dependency. The benefits listed below are administered by the City’s Benefits Division, not by Anthem. Covered expenses include:

• Acupuncture, hypnosis and physician office visits are payable at 100% after the office visit copayment. Submit receipt of payment to the City’s Benefits Division. Non-taxable reimbursement will be included in your paycheck.
• Over-the-counter nicotine addiction products are payable at 100%. Submit receipt of payment to the City’s Benefits Division. Taxable reimbursement will be included in your paycheck.
• Smoking cessation classes are payable at 100%. Submit receipt of payment and confirmation of class attendance and completion to the City’s Benefits Division. Taxable reimbursement will be included in your paycheck.

Prescription medicine is paid the same as any other prescription medicine and is administered by Anthem. Present your Anthem ID card at point of pharmacy purchase and pay the applicable coinsurance.
