Pre-Employment Workshops
Training

The Homeless Employment Program assists consumers in strengthening their employment skills by working toward independence from public assistance programs. The employment assessment includes identifying transferable skills, job matching and searching, gaining and retaining temporary, permanent and part-time employment. Services are designed specifically for Portland’s homeless population. The staff conducts outreach at homeless shelters and linkage to the Career Center in Portland.

Program Components

The employment Case Managers assists consumers with the following pre-employment skills:

PRE-EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOPS   JOB TRAINING
Workshops series addressing topics such as communication skills, organization, time & stress management, positive thinking, career decision-making, and effective interview and job search techniques.   Job training is offered at various municipal sites to gain work experience. Participants are paid a stipend for services. Support and follow-up services are provided.
