Health Alert: Lyme Disease (5/2/2013)
The Maine CDC has issued a health alert for Lyme Disease. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that is carried by Ixodes scapularis (the deer tick). Cases have been increasing each year in Maine, and occur in all 16 counties.

Latino Community Cancer Educational Forums (4/18/2013)
Portland Public Health's Minority Health Program will be hosting three Latino community cancer education forums. The forums will focus on the three most commonly diagnosed cancers among Latinos (breast, colorectal, and lung cancer). Information will include cancer basics, the benefits of early detection and prevention, and how to access proper cancer screening and needed care.
The forums will be held on:
April 22nd at the Centro Latino (English Flier, Spanish Flier)
May 5th at Sacred Heart Church (English Flier, Spanish Flier)
May 9th at El Sinai Church. (English Flier, Spanish Flier).
