Portland: City Council Approves Plan for Biotechnology Park

7/20/2006 - PORTLAND — Portland's plan to develop a biotechnology office park on city land off Rand Road won unanimous City Council approval Monday night.

The council agreed to rezone 6.5 acres from resource protection to office park and 1 acre of wetlands from office park to resource protection, according to a city report. The council also agreed to remove the 6.5 acres from the city's conservation land bank and place the acre of wetlands in the land bank.

The city's plan calls for six office park lots ranging from 2 to 9 acres and 9 acres of open space, including a public parking lot at the head of a recreation trail.
