Portland is enjoying one of the largest development booms in many years, with substantial new construction as well as rehabilitation of existing building stock. The focus of a great deal of new construction is on the Eastern Waterfront and in Bayside, while the Arts District is experiencing a variety of rehabilitation and adaptive reuse projects, particularly on Congress Street.
Continuing to expand Portland's biotechnology and marine science clusters are exciting and ongoing initiatives. The City is partnering with stakeholders in these overlapping industries to further research, development and commercialization, as well as attract new companies. Also underway is the development of the City's 25-acre Rand Road Biotechnology Park, just off Interstate 95.
