  1. A Walk Through Time in Portland -- Celebrating 200 Years!

    We are celebrating 200+ years of history in Portland, Maine! Are you curious about Portland's history with railroads, fires, wars, the underground railroad, famous poets and Hollywood producers? Join us on this walking tour through time. This tour will begin on Commercial Street and continue for 2.5-3 hours through the historic Old Port, downtown and waterfront areas, sharing highlights of Portland's history since 1820 and as far back as 1632. Stories and facts are shared by highly trained guides with a passion for local history, sights and landmarks. They will bring history alive as you enjoy this leisurely, scenic stroll. Since we like to end on a sweet note, you will be treated to a dessert at the end.

    The Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department and District 1 Councilor Belinda Ray invite you to attend a public meeting to learn about future park improvements being implemented at the Amethyst Lot site on Portland's Eastern Waterfront. The Amethyst Lot is currently utilized as a temporary parking lot adjacent to the Ocean Gateway facility, and the City will be making park improvements there during Spring/Summer 2020 to activate this underutilized area as a greenspace with seating, pathways, and plantings. There will be a presentation of current plans as well as a question and answer period. Date: Wednesday, March 4 Time: 6:00-7:30 PM Place: East End Community Center, 195 North St.

A map at the end of this notice will assist in defining the project boundaries.
