Council Approves One Climate Future Plan

On November 9, the City Council approved One Climate Future, the joint climate action and adaptation plan developed in collaboration with the City of South Portland. The plan lays out 68 strategies that will help the City achieve an 80% reduction in community wide greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for the impacts of climate change such as higher sea levels, more powerful storms, and more days of extreme heat. The Sustainability Offices in Portland and South Portland spent eighteen months engaging with thousands of residents through public workshops, online surveys, attending public events, and meeting with community groups. The team also worked with City staff from a variety of departments and a consulting team led by Holly Jacobsen of Linnean Solutions. The Sustainability Office will be holding a public workshop
