Join Us As We Kick Off the Maine Bicentennial in Deering Oaks Park

Governor Janet Mills will join Mayor Strimling, City officials, and members of the Maine Bicentennial Commission to launch the commemoration of the State of Maine bicentennial on Tuesday, July 30 at 2:30 PM in Deering Oaks Park. The Portland event, one of four across the state that the Governor is attending that day, will feature the dedication of the Tricentennial Pine Grove, and a reading of a Longfellow poem. 

Bicentennial kick off day coincides with the 200th anniversary of the affirmative vote to separate the District of Maine from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in July of 1819. 

WHEN:  Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 2:30 PM

WHERE:  Deering Oaks Park, Portland. 

Event will take place in the park closest to the intersection of Park Avenue & Deering Avenue -- across from King Middle School along King Court Drive.
