Preble Street Sewer Separation & PWD Water Main Project Phase 2

small map of road closure 1st notice

On May 28, 2019 City sewer separation and PWD water main replacement work on Preble St from Marginal Way to Cumberland will begin with the erection of signs and saw cutting of pavement.

Starting June 3, 2019 Preble St between Marginal Way and Kennebec St. will be closed for the City Sewer Separation and PWD water main construction to begin. This closure will be in effect until the work is complete.

The first section of construction for Preble St is between Marginal Way to Kennebec St, this includes Somerset St between Kennebec and Elm St. The road will be closed for the installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer and roadway reconstruction.

There is approximately 100 ft of water main on Elm St at Marginal Way located in the left-hand lane and on Preble Street in the same area as sewer separation construction, which is also being installed by Portland Water District’s contractor during this same period.

We apologize for the inconvenience of the road closure, but the closed road will accelerate construction and allow the contractor to complete the work effectively, safely and in a timely fashion.
