About the Authority


The Portland Fish Pier Authority was incorporated on August 14, 1989. The Authority was formed by the Municipal Officers of the City of Portland as a local development corporation for the purposes of managing and marketing the entire premises known as the Portland Fish Pier for the benefit of the fishing and fishery-related business enterprises and the citizens of the City of Portland.

The Portland Fish Pier Authority establishes rules and regulations for the safe, businesslike operation of the entire Fish Pier, as well to ensure the Pier continues to support the commercial fishing community.

The Portland Fish Pier is currently undertaking a strategic planning process to establish goals, strategies, and an actionable work plan to guide decision making on a 1-5 year horizon.  The strategic planning process has included outreach to the Maine Seafood Economy and the Portland Fish Pier tenants having a formative impact on the direction and work product to date.Portland Fish Pier Photo
