Substance Abuse Prevention

Under the umbrella of Portland Prevention, our substance abuse prevention programs use an array of strategies to target populations, ranging from adolescents to adults, with the goal of empowering people to make choices that will ensure healthy and productive lives while providing options that help reduce the harm caused by drug use.

Community Drug Drop Box* locations are available in the following towns:
      *Medications only - No Needles

Portland Police Dept - 109 Middle Street - 24 Hours   
South Portland Police Dept - 24 Hours
Cape Elizabeth Police Dept - 8-4 Daily
Scarborough Police Dept - 24 Hours
Gorham Police Dept - M- F 8:30-4:30 (no weekend or holidays)
Windham Police Dept - M-F 8:00-4:00 (no holidays)
Bridgton Police Dept. M-F 8:00-4:30
Yarmouth Police Dept 200 Main Street - 24 Hours
Freeport Police Dept 16 Main Street - 8-4 Daily/7 days a week. 
Our coalitions (Overdose Prevention Project,) focus on asset-based positive youth development, the prevention of fatal overdoses through education, support, and outreach and improved access to treatment, recovery, and support services for women struggling with addiction.
