Our School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs), located in four schools around the city, are a partnership between the Portland Public Health Division, Portland Public Schools, and Maine Medical Center. The goal of the SBHCs is to work together with families to keep Portland students healthy. No student will be denied services based on ability to pay.
Student Health Centers are located in the following schools:
Casco Bay High School-Based Health Center
Deering High School-Based Health Center
Portland High School-Based Health Center
King Middle School-Based Health Center
Services offered at our SBHCs:
• Sports physicals
• Diagnosis and treatment of minor illness
• Management of chronic conditions
• Mental health counseling
• Reproductive health care
• Dental health screenings and preventive treatments through the Children’s Oral Health Program (COHP).
In addition, comprehensive dental treatment is available at our clinic at Portland High School. This clinic is open to all children ages 0-18. To schedule an appointment or learn more about the clinic, call 207-541-6627.
Please note: The SBHCs do not take the place of a student’s primary care doctor or other health care providers. We work with primary care physicians to better coordinate student health care. Ongoing communication occurs as necessary between the SBHCs and a student’s doctor.
All services are confidential.
We offer interpretation services for ELL students.
How to enroll: Any student can be seen at their school’s health center as long as they have completed an enrollment form signed by a parent/guardian.
